Helplines Australia actively supports and promotes professional standards for telephone and online counselling, information and referral services, whilst recognising the autonomy of each service. We are a voluntary, non-profit membership association. We represent all types of helplines including small volunteer-based local helplines and publicly funded national helplines.
Membership is open to any individual or agency that offers telephone or internet support services to the public or to special population groups.

Helplines Australia membership rates are:
- National Service $200 Annual Fee
- Agencies with more than 3 full time $140 Annual Fee
- Agencies with or less than 3 full time staff $100 Annual Fee
- Individuals (newsletters only) $50 Annual Fee
- *Staff = Full time equivalent, paid staff
